One handed shifting

My girlfriend has a disability where she doesn't have much motor function on her right side. She has the strength and motor skills to hold on the the handle bars and steer but can't use the brake or a shifter.

I'm thinking of getting her a front wheel recumbent trike.

For the brakes I was thinking of using one of these

For the shifting I was think of using a combination of a grip shifter and a rapid fire trigger shifter. Like this one

Anyone have any thoughts on a setup like this ? Does anyone have any comments why this would not work?

Thanks for any comments :)
