One legged cyclist needs help!!

Hi,

Firstly, I am a newbie and would like to thank you for your time in reading this.........my problem is as follows..........

I currently ride a 'normal' bike but due to my right leg not being able to bend, I only ride with using my left leg. I only have the left pedal on and my right leg just hangs down!! I've just recently has a TKR revision and am now fit enough to get back on my bike so I'm looking for some advice as to where to put my right leg/foot.....obviously overtime, anatomically, it won't be good for me in my current riding position.

Ideas/suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Why can't you bend the knee? No motor control or because it isn't advised by your physician?

Limited r.o.m due to numerous knee operations on my right knee. Last one in June was number 18 and they did a revision of my previous knee replacement!!

I was going to suggest that you attach the right foot to the pedal (clipless, Power grip) somehow even if your left leg is the only one providing power, but that may not be possible. Other than a handcycle, I'm out of ideas (joints/limbs aren't my thing :o).

Am thinking that a footplate mount would be a good place to start... this could be mounted to the frame at several points to make sure it was stable and adjusted for position to match the drop in your leg.

Am hoping that the R.O.M. is such that you can get your foot high enough to prevent it from interfering with riding.
