Question Insurance helping with Bike Purchases ??

Hi guys and Gals!
I am in the process of rehabbing from a couple of different work related injuries.

As part of rehabbing my doctor wants me to try out using a recumbent style trike.

SO my question for the masses is if anyone has had ANY luck getting a USA insurance company to at least help out with the cost of a bike??

Any info would be appreciated!

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

I do know that some people were able to get a bike paid for as part of rehab therapy. But it's generally a low cost basic bike costing a few hundred dollars., not a high performance machine. I think the Doc is going to have to make a strong case that a recumbent trike is NECESSARY for your rehab therapy. OTOH- they might at least offer partial reimbursement, so it may not be No.

Just had a discussion last night.. Workman's Comp insurance, was spoken of as more to protect the Employer's Liability than to come to the aide of the injured worker ,

to be made whole and healthy without out of pocket costs on the injured parties side.

Hola Sir

When many use The Wordage Trike - the person listening may relate this to a 1969 Schwinn.

When they hear Recumbent -- they say "...huh".

And of course --- Lance Armstrong or etc is matched with Adult Cycling.

The others in the back of the class know what you are saying and visualize The Last AARP Commercial they saw.

----
You do not say from where you are at. This does not matter because you need to find out the nearest city that has a
City Therapeutic Cycling Program to you. I'm here in Colo Spgs and we have this.

***
If your city does not have this ---- ask "why not" ( It is some how connected to The American Disabilities Act ).
***

I say this because many times "they" want you to show that you are doing something for yourself.

psst
Do make sure the person knows the difference from a bike ( cycle ) and A Trike.
