Then again, maybe we should install street view cameras everywhere, and have every human have a bar code tattooed on his/her forehead so if anything happens the authorities can easily identify and track down the people responsible. If tattoos are cosmetically unacceptable, RFID technology is now so good that we could plan a chip in everyone's ear in a way that it won't be noticeable, and place readers all over to help match identities to the photos taken by security cams.

... I don't "yell at" anyone for doing anything but those I try to tell about THE LAW not only want me to mind my own business, they make it clear that they are willing to hurt me if I don't SHUT UP! That is why I now carry some forms of self defense since I am not authorized to enforce any law!

Ditto. I've done that to scofflaw motorists a few times in the past. Won't work.

I don't believe there is any place in the US which requires a license to ride a bike, and I would vehemently oppose measures which propose to instate such a law. Same thing with mandatory bicycle registration.

Yep, too many of them and not enough of me, I'll just stick to reporting, to local law enforcement, the two to three aggressive motorists that really penetrate my thick skin annually.

Especially when jimrich is lecturing cyclist who are actually legal, but he considers scofflaws because of his own ignorance of the law.

And before Jimrich wants to add that his taxes pay for the streets and bicyclist should pay too because they own the street I just want to say "Thank you for paying for it all, I use it everyday."

A lot of discussions don’t even need to be discussed anymore. Just Google “bicycle licensing” or “cyclists to pay for roads”. You’ll get a ton of links and discussions already explaining in one form or another how most cyclists already hold valid drivers licenses or are already subject to the local highway traffic legislation and how cyclists as property tax payers under-utilize their share of the road for which they pay into.
Included in those hits you'll even find the history of some cities that have already studied bicycle licensing but rejected the plan or once had them but were eventually cancelled.
