cycling in groups

Hi Lynnlee,
I can't speak for how it's done in the States, but I can tell you how my fellow randonneurs and I deal with this type of situation
here in the Great White North. If a car is more or less stuck behind us and can't pass due to poor visibility, the person at the front of the
group keeps an eye on the road ahead of him/her. If they see no traffic ahead, they motion for the car to come around. In fact, we all motion for the car to come around.
The driver then drives by us with a friendly toot of the horn and a wave.
Legal? Who knows. But it works for us. The cyclist at the front of the group acts as the eyes and ears for the driver. She/he is in the best position to do so.

CB HI,
Maybe I should check my tire pressure too so I can factor in rolling friction.
I'm sure there's a weather website where I can find out what the wind speed and direction was that day in my area..
Or were you being redundant?

I was willing to look at online maps and photos to possibly help you out with some solutions that have worked for both parties elsewhere, but you do not seem interested.

I am not the one who came into the forum ranting about cyclist while putting forward large exaggerations. Do not worry though, we are use to that from most motorist.

It's just the same-old same-old motorist entitlement syndrome, but at least she is being polite about it. Many of us are routinely slowed down in arriving at our destinations by the daily critical mass of recreational motorists, but it is rare for a cyclist to declare that motorists should accommodate us beyond simply obeying the law (wow, wouldn't it be something if they did that?). At least when a few cyclists is causing a motorist some delay they are not also putting the motorist at any risk.

Oh, she's interested all right. Unfortunately, what she's interested in appears to be finding a way to get those darned cyclists the ef off the road.

Given her description of a 12 mile long narrow, hilly, winding road with no passing zone, the 45 mph speed limit appears Ridiculously high. Seems to me, the cyclist slowing her down are helping to improve the safety of her 4 kids.

Out there in Oregon:
be there any controversy of motor vehicle drivers, within an age group, at an old age -- in which that age be of so much trouble in seeing bikes & other non-motor-vehicle objects. Driving into houses/rooms. Crashing into trees. Resulting in those old drivers creating a higher rate of traffic accidents, overall.
That the politicos & DMV be doing nothing.
Because (a) politics (b) economical $ gain reasons for the state (c) both

It is a different thread than I intended to reply, as the website did not work correct.
This webdesign is faulty enuff starting in re-registering. Double standards given.
How do you islanders judge 'spaced out'?
That's why we from other states don't resect others who visit.

Say what? Not sure the meaning of resect.
You do have a bad habit of attacking people because of where they live.
If you had responded nicely, I would have deleted the quote of your post that you spaced out. Guess you should learn to be nice or you can just whine to a mod to get it deleted now.

CB HI,
if you really wanted to interpret my message correctly.
Which you really not wanted to do.
You don't need a much level of intelligence to do it.
'respect' missing the 'p' = "resect."
Come to where I live; the 'habit' be within all those here --- even those that moved here from elsewhere.
Where I live, those that move in from other countries and states not -- 'respect' the native-born.

Entitlement is a devious thing, it sticks to all of us even when we desire to do better, as it's too easy to forget we're all one of "they".

Native born, as born in the US 'state' you were born in? Maybe you mean Native American, which includes my heritage.

Thank you, I knew you might come up with the proper meaning. I think molten lives in San Diego and does not believe I should be allowed to visit my sons in California.

I said "native-born." Yes, to the state I be born in.
As you now speak of your heritage --- be that the state shown on your data under the flag?
Now that you told me of your heritage, I have a better idea why there was that chat dispute done earlier.
Once I sent in my above, I saw CB HI's further commenting to me.
I never said anything of commanding you about your family; how do you claim I knew of it? Say it.
The only interest I had (and to dispute) be YOU.
I have looked at your comments to others. YOU are one who seem to have a way of coming to attack Bike Forum MemberS. Is that all that you do???? Do you search for others, to attack them? Ruin or end their lives??
What's your criminal record???
