Hi. I'm new to these forums. I was just wondering what y'all think. Sometimes I just want to ride my bike with the same freedoms I have when I drive a car, you know, on the road. But I'm scared. The traffic is too fast. So I ride only on the sidewalk and on bike paths, but I long to be able to ride to the store, or to work, or to the local park. I'd like to go wherever the road goes! I don't own a car yet, but I love biking and I want to ride my bike to places I can't go on a path. My town has almost no bike lanes or paths. Am I out of luck? Is it really possible to ride on the road to get where I want to go?

Don't do it, man! Forget biking. Forget living. Lock yourself in a room where it's safe and don't ever come out.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Welcome to the forums, newbie.

Only cars are allowed on roads. That's why everyone has a car. If bikes were allowed, everyone would ride bikes instead, right?
