Looks like it got truncated to a sticky "bike lanes" thread.

Well Randy, first someone parked in it, then someone else, then a UPS truck did, then not to be out done, a FEDEX truck plopped half in it, half in the lane, then a street sweeper missed it, then a repair crew had to dig right where the stripe was, annihilating the demarcation; then it just ended, because the engineers or painters just didn't know what to do.

OK, I got it now, the mods put helmet head and his friends in a corner where they can fight and argue amongst themselves all they want without bothering the rest of us anymore...

Sad, but too true. Don't forget the runners in it and the dogs that crapped in it. And watch out for that guy coming the other way...

Lets not forget all the glass and rubber left from the tires. OH, and don't forget about that SUV's door!

But…
The "friends" still have their politeness police on patrol sniffing out and sniping at any hint of impropriety, (i.e. any questioning of faith in VC dogma, or doubt expressed about the validity of fanciful extrapolations and generalizations generated from dubious "stats"). What could be more impolite or obnoxious than pointing out to the VC Emperors(friends) that their VC clothing doesn't look as good as they truly believe.

The "friends" are even more silly when showering praise on anyone who takes their arguments at face value. What could be more polite than telling the Emperor that his clothing choice is worthy of serious discussion? Or that his "stuff" doesn't stink?

It certainly would be a kinder, gentler forum if the "friends" would confine their umpteen variations of a single thread subject - Stimulating VC "controversy" and associated opinion bullying - to a few sticky threads.

There are stickies for "Bike Lanes" and "Sidewalk Bicycling". What's missing are stickies for "Are Helmets Necessary?", "Multi-use Paths" and "Is it 'soccer' or is it 'football'?"

No, wait, I think I've got the wrong forum on that last one. My bad.

This forum is about safety and advocacy. There are only so many subjects that can fit under this umbrella

-Riding skills
-Traffic (scenarios, dealing with, etc.)
-Facility planning
-Accident analysis and awareness
-Laws, rights
-MUPs, sidewalks
-Promotion of cycling
-Safety equipment (helmets, bells, lights, etc.)
-etc.

I don't understand how can folks complain about one of the most important items related to S&A (bike facilities) being over discussed?

Discussion is one thing; endless pedantry, accompanied by opinion bullying is another.

Then don't participate in that that part of it. I try to ignore the poor tactics on both sides of the debate and try to to focus on the issues, but of course it is easy to get sucked into the emotion.

Look who's talking.
Search on I-Like-To-Bike posts and see what tiny percentage actually contributes to a discussion.

Serge, the dismissive use of the emoticon at the end usually gives the real clue to the attitude. All you do is substantiate SB/ILTB's assertion.
