Most of the hotshot companies end up in holes, look at all the solar thermal plants, even with massive government help they are rolling over. Funny thing is people never seem to learn, as soon as the next wiz-bang IPO comes along they are all in for the ride. A person would be better off buying stock in stock.

Uber lost at least $1.27 billion in the first half of 2016, according to Bloomberg's Eric Newcomer, who cites people familiar with the matter.
Bloomberg reports that Uber held a conference call with investors Friday, led by finance head Gautam Gupta, to discuss Uber's financial situation.
In the first quarter of 2016, Uber lost $520 million ("before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization"). In the second quarter, the situation worsened, and Uber's losses topped $750 million. That means Uber's total losses are at least $1.27 billion for the first half of the year.
While these losses are staggering, they are mostly consistent with previous reports. Uber lost close to $1 billion in the first half of 2015.

In business world there's no proprietary or competitive advantage to be gained based on a willingness to lose money on every unit sold. It's numero uno 0 to 60-- a government-subsidized full-sized slot car for millionaires.

Oh yes, mobile phones and computers, they have you mesmerized don't they. Well the secret there is that they are the best selling thing on the planet after cheap housing units, cars and food. With the capital flowing in it's only natural they have made big advancements in that field. The trouble is it's a waste of money in one respect, the devices draw the average user away from other more productive pursuits and cost companies untold billions in lost productivity by workers taking extra long sh`t breaks just so they can leave a mean comment on facebook or an internet forum like you are today.
Cars have been evolving for over 100 years but they still burn gasoline and roll over concrete on 4 rubber tires, there is a limit it seems to what can be achieved by our current civilization and I suspect it is tied to the price of oil. Soon we will have redressed this energy imbalance on the earth where all that carbon was buried so long ago and can be done with most of this pointless rushing to and fro from technology shops to buy the latest gadget. In the mean time though lets insult each other at broadband speeds while we shop online for some more hi tech addons for our bicycles.

You must have a tachion drive in it for it to work longer than it has been in existance?

Since you are not happy with product and knowledge advances, why don't you get busy and invent the things you thing we should have had by now.

20 year warranty but still going fine at 30 years seems good to me. But you must be intentionally misreading my post or it is over your head to understand that 20 year is normal discussions would refer to the product expected life/warranty, just like 30 year roof, 40,000 mile tires, etc.

I sure hope I am wrong, but it sounds like you are saying the whole autonomous car thing is a huge scam, and that Uber and others employ human foils pretending to be self-driving cars... ... you aren't saying that... are you? If I am misunderstanding you then you have to explain why you think the human was driving the car.

Oh that's too easy... like many other humans, the driver wanted to "get there faster" than obedience to the law by a robot driver would allow... it's the whole flaw in the current self driving push... allowing humans to override the technology that would otherwise make the roads safer.

I'm glad they're going to confine their self-driving experiment to Pittsburgh, PA until the bugs are worked out. Needless to say, I have no plans to travel to Pittsburgh over the next several years.

In any event, some jurisdictions you merge then turn. Others, you yield then turn. Even if you *gasp* drive in multiple jurisdictions or *gasp* ride a bike in multiple jurisdictions, it's not that hard to not kill or not die.
But HORSIES, BASEMENTS, MSM, CNN, and OXFORD COMMAS!

You'd think such a simple thing as how to make a right turn in a motor vehicle on a road with a bike lane could be standardized across the nation.

I thought one merged (with yield) and turned everywhere in the US except Oregon and Arizona, where one just yields and turns, at least in theory.
