But no laws say you cannot crash on a bridge.

I suppose we demand that bridges have catch fences to contain flying bikes and riders.

Oh, I don't know, maybe the racing forum? Maybe racing for the fans?, maybe even general cycling?

Not here!!! I used to allow motorists' to pass me on the one lane humpback bridge. Until I realized that I could be knocked over the side of the bridge by a 'close pass'. Ever since then, I 'take the lane' on the bridge so no vehicle passes me on the bridge. Sure, I get honked at. But that is their problem, not mine.

It's Advocacy & SAFETY... It was a very fresh story when I posted it , two days ago...

Yes, maybe I should have posted it in the general cycling forum ! It was really such a freak accident, the chances of it ever happening again , are so slim, it should be in General Cycling... Someone could just look at the story and reply "OMG!"...

I thought it was so they could blame him for riding too far to the right?

I have been on that road/bridge. It is scary because often there are strong cross-winds in the area and because the bridge's guardrail is low.

I hate riding over bridges. I have gephyrophobia and this story does not ease my worries.

More cyclists should learn to bunny hop, and maybe a few other basic mtb skills too.

Although I generally agree with you, a bunny hop would not have prevented this. When he hit the pile up there were bikes and bodies as high as the top of his front wheel. See 0:38 of the video.

I agree with you caloso. My point was that some basic mtb skills would have lessened the accidents greatly. Some would have missed the wreck in the beginning, sparing others later on in the video.

With each sport comes a degree of risk and we all must consider what is acceptable for ourselves. It's not so much if you will crash a bike, but more a matter of when.

Yes they should, but sometimes, even Peter Sagan-like (two levels higher than cat-like) reflexes and skills aren't enough to avoid a wreck.
