Again: "A car crashed into a person riding a bicycle...". I understand that a driver is implied in the statement, but this cultural diffusion of responsibility always rubs me the wrong way. The report says that Mr. Paire had entered the main road from a side street, but does not provide much more detail. If the accident was recreated from the driver's account, there is no telling what really happened. Much sorrow here.

Yes. Pulling out from a side street requires extra special care. Since there is no traffic signal to stop traffic. I always make sure that any approaching traffic is at least ten car lengths behind me o, on the approaching lanes. Before I pull out That way they even have time to notice me, and hit the brakes if needed.
