Question
Hi all I have a quick question for every one here. I have been getting tired of a$$-holes buzzing me, or yelling at me, or just plan being aggress drivers against me. I have taken up if I catch up to them at the next red light, I usually have my camera cell phone with me. I have put up a section on my web site where I plan on posting the pictures. (you can see it now at www.mikeoconnor.net/driver )
does any one see any problem with this, ethical or other wise.

Well they are in a public place so taking a photo is considered legal... now fiscially... I would think they may be able to go after you in court to take them down under libel (slander or whatever the legal term is).

Well they should obey the law, and I think the term they would have to use is libel since that legally is about what has been said is true, while slander is to deal with things that are lies. All I am doing here is documenting who drivers.

Libel is something written that is false.
Slander is something said that is false.

Ok then since what I am doing is just stating facts, if some one tried to bring a case up, in a perfect world it would be dismissed. I will then go ahead with my plans.

It would be cool if you included some details of the incidents. What kind of road, what was your lane and road position, how close did they get to you. More details would help to establish if there is some kind of pattern. I really think it is more useful to use the details to come up with ways to prevent these incidents, as opposed to establishing blame after they happen.

I like it!
You should expand it into a full blog-type thing, where you post the picture, a text version of the plate (so it can be searched), and a short story about the incident. Then open it up for comments so we can all mock the driver. Additional photos of the car or driver would be a good bonus.
As long as your accounts are factual, you are in no danger (except the danger of a nutjob, try not to let them see you photograph them).
peace,
sam

Truth is an absolute defense to libel or slander (at least of the type you're discussing).
Truth generally means posting facts: "he was driving in the left hand lane and moved right without using his blinker, causing me to be pushed off the road" and not opinions "he was driving like an sshole on crack"

Truth and opinions are both OK. Its outright lies that aren't OK. You could say, "He was driving in the right lane at 8:25pm while honking his horn and weaving like a monkey on crank." and the only thing that could get you in trouble would be if he wasn't actually driving in the right lane at 8:25pm. The opinion is just that, a matter of opinion, and can't be considered libel.

Good idea I will include more details in the future. Also will look into comments, also will add a text of the number of the plate.
