Refused Service!

This is amazing. I was just going out for a burger and yes I was refused service at McDonalds. I had gone through the drive thru before and served but not this time. It was at 12:00 at night - I really wanted a burger - when there were no customers and they still refused to serve me. I am not much on vengeance but what can I do about this or is there nothing to do

Thanks,

Jonathon

I've tried to go through the drive thru at Jack in the Box, when then lobby was closed, due to lack of employees, so I went to the drive thru, and they said that bikes werent allowed in it

We are cyclists, what are you doing eating that greasy stuff? I haven't eaten any fast food (McDonalds, Burger King) for many, many years. On my biking commute I do pass by a few McDonalds and Burger Kings and other fast food restaurants and I can't help look inside and feel pity for those in there.

I really do have to find time to rent that movie. If the movie is anything like his new reality series, it should teach me a lot about the way I eat.

It's so scary that both my daughters -teenagers at that- now refuse to eat fast food now, except for an occasional In 'N Out burger with no cheese.

your best bet is to write a letter to the regional manager. the local mcdonalds crew will have no say in it - they are just following the rules and doing their job.

Yeah! At least at Burger King or Wendy's you can King/Biggie Size it - something the morons at McDonalds won't do anymore.

I don't understand. For one of his "meals" he had a few cheeseburgers, 2 super size drinks and 2 supersize fries (or was it three?) My point is, for each of his meals he ate 2 or 3 times what is eaten. If you eat 150 grams of fat and 5000 calories a day, obviously its going to do harm to you.

If he had an egg sandwhich for breakfast with coffee, a burger for lunch with fries and a soda, and a burger for dinner with fries and soda he would have been fine. It might not be healthy but there is a big difference between that and 2-3x that.

The movie was laughable, at best.

Get in your car, and have a friend bring another car. Drive in (while your friend's car blocks other cars from entering the drive-thru), order $300 worth of food, then back out and drive away. If you time it right, they'll try billing the next car through with your bogus order.

Sometimes the simple forms of revenge are the most gratifying.

I recently was reading the bike laws of my state (R.I.). I found that it is illegal to carry anything in your hands that will interfere with operating the bike. If this is the case in that state or town, they will probably not hand you two things like a drink and a bag when you are on a bicycle. If someone rides into the street and has an accident they may sue.

I'm not addressing if this is wrong or right, or if a cyclist can handle this maneuver. If it is the law this is beside the point. My bike laws were on line.

I'm just addressing the legal aspects. That's what the restaurant would consider first probably. They should not hand you that if it is illegal. We sometimes have to live with laws that were made for people less coordinated than ourselves.

TITLE 31
Motor and Other vehicles
CHAPTER 31-19
Operation of Bicycles
SECTION 31-19-9
§ 31-19-9 Carrying articles. – No person operating a bicycle shall carry any package, bundle, or article which prevents the use of both hands in the control and operation of the bicycle. A person operating a bicycle shall keep at least one hand on the handlebars at all times.

Were we watching the same movie? It was my impression that he ate one cheeseburger (that is, a quarter pounder with cheese or big mac or whatever) and one order of fries and one soda and if they asked him if he wanted to supersize, he had to say yes and he would eat that for one meal.

I think you're blowing the numbers out of proportion.

They could then not serve motorcycles either if that was the case. They cannot assume that you don't have a backpack, pannier, or other device to carry your food hands free. At least they shouldn't.

.
You're right about the riding with no hands law, but the cyclist can easily put the food in a front or rear pannier, basket, handlebar bag, messenger bag or knapsack. A motorist can either hold onto the food and eat it while driving or place the food next to him on the seat. If the motorists decides to eat it and gets in an accident, can he sue McDs because they gave him food while in a car?

Sorry but that doesn't hold water. There is such a thing as personal responsibility.

What country are you posting from? Hasn't been a public sense of personal responsibiity in the USA since the 1950's. (Many people are still personally responsible however.)

I'd never eat at McDonalds, but I'd do a one biker sit-down demonstration in the drive thru if I wanted to and were refused service. They'd probably serve you eventually...

More likely they'd just call the police and have you arrested for trespassing.
