I'm not much of a country music fan, but flipping thru the channels to get to the weather channel, I stumbled upon this music video.
Catchy tune, but what really irritated me was the glorification of drunk driving!

Did you listen to the song all the way through? Because it ain't about glorifying drunkenness at all. It's about making an utter idiot of yourself while drunk, then realizing later on that, hey, I was really stupid and shouldn't be doing that stuff. Good grief, the lyrics even outright say "don't drive your car [when you're tore up]." If that's promoting drunk driving, then doublespeak has gotten a lot trickier since 1984.

The anti-heroine of the song gets her @ss kicked for hitting on another woman's boyfriend, then wrecks her truck and makes herself into the town laughingstock. I don't see how you can get "glorifying" out of that.
I like Gretchen Wilson, and I don't usually like country that much. She's a witty woman with a belt-em-out voice, and she's not all full of bull and sugar like a lot of the schmaltzy pop tartlets. I respect her ornery, mouthy presence and think that rock and pop could benefit from a few more girls with her kind of sass. Kind of like my favorite female rapper, Missy Elliott. Smart, dirty, and full of mischief. Gretchen Wilson's okay in my book.
Edited to add: I had to do a little work to see the video, and discovered that the guy she's supposed to be hitting on is Larry the Cable Guy, and Kid Rock has a cameo in there, too.
