Any simple cure for helmet hair?
Ok, I am not real vain so I do not mind wearing my helmet. However, even on short trips my specialized helmet imprints the exact patern of the inside of my helmet in my hair. Now though I do not mind the helmet in public thing the helmet hair at the office just does not fly, I look like a wannabe punk rocker. Soaking my head and letting it dry on it's own, (only thing that seems to reshape the hair) it less than practical. I was taking a turn on the two mile trip home, scraped a pedal and almost bought it at good speed. I want to wear my helmet but I need a cure for the helmet hair, any ideas out there? I wear a small specialized that fits perfectly, great for singletrack, bad for hair.

Thats the problem, my hair is short, when I say exact pattern, I mean EXACT. If you know helmets you could ID the one I wear by looking at my head after a ride.
And for other reasons I cannot let my hair grow out.

Cut your hair REALLY short. I go with a #1 clipper.
I begin to get the helmet imprint as the hair grows out. I just ruffle it with my hands.

I cut my hair myself with a clippers. 1/4inch on the top, 1/8inch on sides/back. I still get some helmet hair though. It won't go away if I just run my hands through it. I have to actually rinse it, or at least just get it wet, first.

Work up a really good sweat. Then when you take your helmet off, you can just slick back your soaking wet hair. Looks really cool!

Obviously I am not the only one with this problem, I guess I am going back to the short short cut. When I cut my hair I go to the skin on the sides with a small flat top 1/8 to 1/4 on top. Oh well, there goes looking like something other than an escaped prisoner.

The "cure" to most problems is to eliminate the cause(s).
Cure 1 -- eliminate the helmet.
If cure 1 is deemed undesirable, try cure 2 -- eliminate the hair and shave your head.
Everything else is just treating adverse symptoms.

I'm about one clipper size short of a buzz-cut. I wear a doo-rag or skull cap under the helmet.

I have the same exact problem (with a Specialized helmet, no less). I put a little pomade in my hair before riding and it makes it easier to style back once I'm at work.

I too shave my head with a #1; and I too get the perfect mold of helmet hair. The diffrence is that I have a Bell helmet, so at least my doo is in style.
Yeah, i've found no solution to beating the problem. Try to embrace it; makes for good conversation.

When I get to work, I clean up in the bathroom. To cure a serious case of helmet hair I rinse my entire head in the sink while I am stripped down (one person bathroom) and dry it off with paper towells. It is not ideal, but it works for me. If I need it, I keep some hair spray in my desk.
