Teens arrested in attack on bicyclist

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Four teenagers accused of attacking a bicyclist were charged with second-degree robbery.

The assault was one of two reported last week on a short stretch of a recreational trail on the city's west side.

Dennis Halter, 47, told police he was attacked about 8 p.m. Thursday as he rode along the trail. The attackers demanded his wallet and damaged his bike, police said. The assault ended with two girls stopped and the assailants fled, Sgt. Todd Dykstra said.

Halter was not seriously hurt.

Charged in the case are Floyd Ezell, 16, Mark Harvey, 17, Jordan Hardin, 15, and Myshone Lee, 14.

A separate attack was reported Monday in the same area. Tim Stacy, 52, said he was assaulted by three young men about 4:30 p.m. as he walked home from his job. Stacy was not seriously hurt.

Well, I always carry my wallet when I bike, but not ON me.

That's where that decoy wallet is handy. It also helps to keep your jersey from riding up in the back.

Fill it with fake credit cards (The kind you get in the mail, but without your name on it.)

It might be fun to put a couple color xeroxed bills in there too...

Now you've got me scheming. If only I could fake up some social security cards with numbers that are those of people in prison for Treason.

"OK, Mr. Arnold, we'll just check your credit and criminal history repo..OH MY GOD!!"
