Commute video
I thought I'd give another shot at making a video, so HERE'S one of my weekly commute to PT. (It's 17.52 meg)
A couple questions for those of you that might know. I'm using Premier 6.0 but couldn't seem to convert to anything other than AVI, is there a way in that software?
Also, this is in MPEG format but lost a fair amount of quality, what is the best format to use?
Thanks,
Steve

That looks like fun. It's so strange to imagine commuting on anything but suburban roads for me. No wonder we get in so many arguments around here about how to ride. Your commute couldn't be much more different than mine. I really need to buy a camera.

MPEG is good, MPEG2 is better but not universally playable. XviD is excellent, there are codecs for most platforms, but the people might have to install the codecs (they're not on most OSs by default).
MPEG can be pretty decent if you do proper prefiltering and get the bitrate right.

Sweet commute. You deal with nasty spiders/snakes/scorpions on that trail?

I run Premiere Pro 1.5. There is a function under Export called Adobe Media Encoder that will output to MPEG1,2, Real Media, Quicktime and WMV. See if Premiere 6 has it.

Thanks for the tips, I'll look into them a little more for my next video (Crit race next weekend).
Yes, that is a fun commute. Right through the middle of a bunch of sub-divisions in a wash that consists of about 7 miles of the 10 mile ride.
Nope, no problems with critters, only avoiding the rabbits and quail
Joejack, many of my commutes are city streets as well, but that would make for boring video

Looks like a perfect commute for a CX bike.

Your neighborhood looks just like where my sister lives. Your offroad commute reminds me of when I was privileged to ride through the Los Penasquitos Reserve in San Diego as part of my commute. I guess you don't have too many problems with bad drivers. Thanks for sharing.

$80 online at eToys, $100 in some of the big box stores (got mine at Best Buy). You need an SD card also; a 1GB card is about $50 and records about 70 minutes of video (15 fps 640x480). It comes with a bunch of mounting straps and stuff.

Thanks Artkansas.
Ulle53, ItsJustMe is right, it's an OS with a 1 gig card mounted to my helmet with the supplied accessories.
John, no, you don't have to log in. Just click on the link and let it down load and play.
0-dog, thanks and it's Frenzal Rhomb - Never had so much fun
