I can't help but wonder if the same amount of effort would have taken place if he had killed a cyclist...

I wonder how many CHP/police look at cyclists and think "they are taking their own lives in their hands... " and write off cyclist accidents with that attitude. I am not "blaming" police mind you... but simply the general attitude held by many motorists toward cyclists.

I think the same attitude is generally held about motorcycles. They don't call them donorcycles for nothing.

genec That hit and run of the motorcyclist happened about 2 miles from my house on a road I ride quite a bit (78 at Cloverdale...1.5 miles west of the Wild Animal Park). For the record, ***edit***I wrote a whole misinformed synopsis of the accident, removed my head from my rectum, did some research, and here's the latest:

Interesting. I went to Julian Elementary and High School with some of the Osunas who lived on an indian reservation (they would be about 67 yo now). Small world. Must be related in some way.

Anyway, what about Equine hit and run?

I've likely mentioned this before, but here goes again:

My friend, 73 and a former racer and participant in the TdF many years ago, was riding on one of our local trails, when he was hit by a horse and rider coming from behind a bush. The horse stepped on him, broke his collarbone, etc.

The rider looked at my friend and asked, "Are you hurt?" He said he was hurt like he!!. The horse and rider then turned and trotted off leaving him alone by the trail.

Just curious, what country is your friend from originally?

(hint: how do I know he's not an American?)

England, and he was not a competitor in the TdF but was somehow allowed to tour the route or something similar with the TdF as an honor. I don't quite know all the details.
