You should pass it on to the news up there in SF. I passed on another story of a cyclist getting run down. They were very intereted and easy to deal with. Go to the local abc, cbs, nbc, fox and any local stations websites for email links.

A lot of states sell DMV info so you might see if CA is one of them. If you can purchase vehicle or license info for a few hundred bucks, my guess is that you could might be able to track down who it is after wading through some data.

Another thought. Put a want ad in the paper or hang flyers in public places in the vicinity of the attack. Most people are creatures of habit, so they can often be found in the same places.

It sounds like the police are already involved and I would think they would be able narrow down the owner of the vehicle by the partial plate number, model and color. But perhaps I watch too much TV. (actually I rarely watch TV)

I'm sure they can. However, we have a partial description here which might well result in hundreds of matches -- particularly if there is any error in the description. If you have a bike club that has a bunch of members willing to do some followup work, it could change a long list that the cops don't have time to mess with into a really short one.

Hanging flyers in nearby grocery stores may be helpful. Everyone needs to eat, so if the guy lives nearby, someone will find him.

Something similar happened here in Miami a couple of years ago. Every Friday morning there is a big group (20-50) of racers that do are ride. Some rednecks in a pickup truck ran a couple of guys in the group into the median and off their bikes. What the rednecks in the pickup truck didn’t realize was that there was a stop sign a couple of miles up the road.

The group stayed with the pickup truck and when the pickup truck got stuck in traffic at the stoplight, a bunch of guys dragged the driver out of the pickup truck and beat him bloody and senseless.

Not that I would ever encourage this type of behavior ….

Isn't Page Mill Road notorious for being a dangerous place to ride your bike? I remember someone mentioning that to me a few years back.

No more no less dangerous than skyline, LaHonda, and all the other places we like to ride.

It's not the road that's dangerous, it's drivers who exceed the speed limit, etc.

This makes a lot of sense. If the guy is that much of an idiot he probably hangs out with similar folks and brags about his feats of daring. I'm thinking that one of his associates might have a moment of weakness when contemplating the $1K reward...... that's a lot of beer or a couple of truck payments.

I am also in favor of San Rensho's tactics.

Good work by the cycling club. Maybe this needs to be done more often. In fact I encourage it.
