Safety concern for next year's RAGBRAI

The second article is the safety one. I am not sure if it will be a safety concern, it might be. I doubt RAGBRAI knows whether or not it will be a safety concern. I understand the concern, but time will tell.

I'm not one of the Lance groupies, but what do they want to do? Ban him because other people become idiots around him? He showed up to ride. Give him a break and cuss out the idiots that can't ride safely. Maybe he can offer suggestions to people riding unsafely. If they are Lance groupies they'll probably listen. I wouldn't go out of my way to talk to him, but I"m not "Anti-Lance" either. As I understand it, he was riding as Lance Armstrong, person, not "LA" the TdF and anti cancer superhero. Give the guy a break. Ride On.

One thing RAGBRAI wil lnot do is increase the amount they allow for registered riders, which is 8,500 for week long & 1,500 for day passes, up to a max of 3 days. I do not know if this is because of the agreement between them & the Iowa Highway Patrol for safety reasons or if it is because this is what they decide for themselves. I do know safety concerns are part of it.

If I were organizing a ride that was lagging in registrations, I would just start a rumor that Lance was registered to ride. I'm doing Cycle NC this year. Maybe he'll show up.
