NYC- "Still We Ride" to the People's Public Forum

Support Environmentally Friendly Transportation and the Right for Communities to Assemble-
Fight the NYPD's Parade Permit Revision

Check out this link for a summary of how the NYPD is undemocratically trying to expand their power and limit our freedoms:

There's a big community event tomorrow to galvanize our council members and get them to take a stand against the NYPD's abuse of power. Come out and support!

"Still We Ride" Ride
Thursday, August 17, 6PM
Union Square Park South
Exercise your right to walk or cycle in NYC. Ride goes to "The People's Public Forum" at St. Mark's Church.

The People's Public Forum
Thursday August 17, 7PM
St. Mark's Church at E. 10th St. & 2nd Ave.
Voice your opinion on the city's newly proposed law restricting cyclists' and pedestrians' right to publicly assemble and speak. Take the time to contact your council member and the mayor. City Council members including Rosie Mendez and Alan Gerson will be joined by civil liberties attorneys Norman Siegel and Bruce Bentley and community representatives including NYC Housing Works Advocate Terri Smith-Caronia at the People's Public Forum to discuss the proposed changes and how to defend the civil liberties of New Yorkers from this attempt by the NYPD to rewrite the law. The Hungry March Band and Reverend Billy will also be on hand to keep things lively.

"Still We Ride" Ride
Wednesday, August 23, 5PM
Union Square Park South
Exercise your right to the road.
-Ride will end at-
NYPD's Public Hearing at 6PM at 1 Police Plaza.

Times Up!, a 20-year-old nonprofit environmental group, has been promoting nonpolluting transportation, saving community gardens, and empowering communities to work together for a sustainable future. Times Up! has been continuously fighting for the environment and your right to assemble. Now is your time to take ownership over your rights and freedoms in the city. Oppose the city's new regulations and help resist the restrictions being imposed on nonpolluting transportation and your right to assemble.

Hope to see y'all out there! Thanks, and please forward widely.
-Austin
