Ride My Commute!
At my Bike Commuter's Meetup, we've started a new monthy feature where we turn one person's morning commute into a group ride for whoever else wants to come along. It's nice not to be alone for once, and over time will give us all a taste of other commutes.
I just led our first one this morning, on my commute, and had two other guys join me. Interestingly, they were both riding fixies, while I had my good-weather 21-speed, but I kept looking back and seeing them keeping up just fine! (And I thought I was in such good shape...! )
I mention it because I think it's a cool community-building idea that others might want to try.

Sounds like a great idea. Keep us posted about future rides.

Riding someone's commute run in this area is doable. The local bike coalition sent a survey to everyone on their E-mail list asking what their three most important commute routes were. If I wanted to do one of the routes I could go down to their ofice and check the files.
The idea was to compare active commute routes with the city and county roads and bike routes plan and find the places that could use improvement. They also asked for what areas we felt needed improvement. I voted for more lights and a flatter shoulder on one road.
