any word on Rider Down on the Manhattan Bridge?

it was last night (sunday night) and i was going across the manhattan bridge (by car) back to brooklyn, and i saw that there was an accident. it was about 8pm and i was on the upper roadway.

one car was stopped behind, and several cars were stopped ahead, of a cyclist down and bloodied. i couldn't see the damage to the bike or damage to any of the cars, and the cyclist was laying in a recovery position, with jackets shored up around his head and upper body. i couldn't see his face but he could move his hand to communicate with the people tending to him. no police nor ambulance had arrived yet, but at least one of the people from the cars was on a phone.

has anyone heard anything? i searched through all the news today and haven't seen a thing. stuff like this really freaks me out. the signage for the bridge may not be good enough if a rider could end up on the upper roadway. ride safe everyone.

The guy was on the bridge and not the bike path? Woah.
So he entered on Flatbush? Isn't there always a cop there at the bridge entrance to inspect for "terrorists"?

winter76 - good point, i was kind of thinking that.

bklyn - he was up on the brooklyn-bound upper roadway, so unless he was going against traffic (which would have been a deathwish for sure) he probably got on from canal street, where i guess it would be pretty easy to get on without being stopped by cops. but with all those cars always speeding onto the bridge, i'm having a hard time believing this guy went onto the roadway by accident. but then why??

in any case, i'm hoping he's okay.
