extra helmet webbing

I have a specialized air force 3 helmet and properly adjusted there is about 5-6 inches of extra webbing hanging off from the snap. I was planning on cutting this off and searing the ends but thought I would just check to make sure there was no good reason not to.

Some brands come with a loop, band, rubber or plastic that retains the extra webbing. If your's doesn't have one you can make/add one, even use a small rubber band, maybe doubled over if too long.

Thanks. I hadn't thought about needing a hat in the winter (if I even get outside, gets a bit nippy here in CO)
