grant money for bike trails?

I know it's out there... Can anybody help me out with suggestions where to start looking for grants to construct bike trails? My bike club is looking for money to begin construction in an area recently approved by the city for a mt. bike course.

Matthew Lesko?

IMBA or a local cycling advocacy groups would be a good place to start. They may be able to direct you in the rigth direction. The local or state parks and recreation department may be a source.

Contact the League of American Bicyclists for help in finding a local advocacy group.
Here is a link from their website that may help.

Interesting... may I ask where these trails are proposed to be? Are you working with BBTC? Maybe they could provide some pointers.

REI just gave a $25,000 grant to IMBA to fund Trail Stewardship kits to 50 local IMBA affiliates across the country. The kits include trail signs, trail construction books, even tools! check out https://www.rei.com/aboutrei/conservation02.html and then find the local IMBA affiliate.

The money is needed for the Colonnade Mt. Bike Park being built under I-5. And yes I'm working with the BBTC, but I've never gone looking for grants before. I just need some pointers as to where to start.

Hmm... interesting. My club is an IMBA affiliate and I think we've recieved funds from REI in the past. Thanks for the link, I'll check into it.

Try https://www.cascade.org or https://www.bicyclealliance.org/

They should be able to point you in the right direction Where is this trail going to be? I am going to check out one of BBTC beginner rides here in a couple of weeks. I haven't become a member yet but I will be signing up for one of the boot camps they offer in the spring.
