in person advocacy in nyc

The September 18 entry of the noimpactman.com blog describes a typical urban cyclist-driver interaction: driver nearly squashes cyclist, cyclist makes his presence known by knocking on a window, driver stops his car an issues profanity.

Atypical is the fact that the driver was a New York state senator, and the bicyclist was a board member of New York City's Transportation Alternatives.

The cyclist and board member has sent a letter to the senator's office requesting a meeting to discuss traffic issues in person, "since the Senator has now had first hand experience."

It will be interesting to see where this goes. Read the story at https://noimpactman.typepad.com/.

"since the Senator has now had first hand experience."

now that is a very diplomatic way to phrase "the a** has not almost squashed a cyclist"
