What's better, a helmet-mounted mirror or a glasses-mounted mirror?
 

I had a glasses-mounted mirror, but it broke. I also could only use it when wearing my sunglasses. I had a hard time getting it adjusted. When I could get it just right, it was great, but more often than not, I couldn't get it right. I am thinking about trying a helmet-mounted mirror this time.

I do think one is better then the other. I just know, after trying both, which works best for me. That is a helmet mounted mirror. Since I wear prescription glasses and only have one pair I do not like a mirror mounted to them. Plus it brings the mirror closer to my face then I like. I prefer the further out distance I get with it mounted on my helmet visor.

Of the mirrors I have tried I prefer the Take a Look brand.

I'm using Take-A-Look too and my whole justification for mounting it to the helmet is that i wear different glasses morning and afternoon. Clear safety glasses in the morning and shaded safety glasses in the afternoon. The mirror stays adjusted unless it makes contact with pretty much anything, but i typically find it only takes 2.3 seconds to re-adjust when necessary.

I use Take-A-Look rubberbanded to my visor, works well for me. This also gives you the freedom to switch if you don't like your mirror to be helmet mounted

Third Eye helmet mounted here. I used the sticky tape mount to get it where I wanted, then zip tied it. Works flawlessly.

Wouldn't use glasses mount since I don't wear the same all the time. And I always wear my lid.

Neither, try a good bar-end mirror. I've never been able to get a mirror attacked to my head to work.

If I ever try and experiment with a mirror again, it would be on the bike, rather than attached to my head. I could not tolerate the blind spot in front, but I know others manage happily.

Don't know what it's like to wear the styrofoam hat, so I wear only a glasses-mounted mirror. If I forget it, I turn around and go home to get it. It gives you true 360-degree capability. The "blind spot" is a non-issue, because your off-eye fills in the blanks.

The Third Eye is sturdily made, but it doesn't project far enough forward. The closer the mirror is to your face, the harder it is to get a good view dialed-in.

Far better designed, but much flimsier, is the Heads Up mirror from Cycleaware. It rides lower than the Third Eye, meaning you can wear a baseball cap with it, and it projects far enough forward to allow a better view. But I've broken two of these and will now graduate to a Take-a-Look.

If you're mirror is attacking your head your doing something wrong.

Neck, it turns. Get used to actually looking around.

Take a look glasses mounted. I use the same pair of glasses day and night (photochromatic) and always wear eye protection.

I tried , bar mount, helmet mount, and like Take-A-Look Mirror Best.

I used bar and/or helmet mirrors for a long time. The helmet mounted and glasses mounted mirrors made a huge blind spot up and to the left, which can cause a problem in city traffic. I settled on a bar mounted mirror on my commuter and am now completely hooked on it. I have a road bike with no mirror and it drives me crazy not having it. But now the porblem is I was so fat I could not get down in my drops and ride comfortably, now I can but with the mirror I cant reach my brake. So I am again rethinking the mirror. I know I have to have one of some sort. It helps seeing traffic from further away than a glance over my shoulder, especially when it is dark.

I totally agree, particularly on the Take-A-Look mirror, especially since I wear eyeglasses all the time. I have always knocked off helmet mounted mirrors and handle bar mirrors are not useful when you rise off the saddle.

One problem I have with the Take-A-Look mirror is that the plastic sleeves on the prongs often slip off and get lost. I have wrapped tape around them to cover them, but a nice solution is to use an electrical insulating material called "Shrink Tubing, available I'm told at Radio Shack. You just slip it over the prong and heat it with a match and it shrinks to tightly cover the prong, for a secure grip as well as to keep from scratching the earpiece of the eyeglasses.
