Worst vehicles to be passed by
I'm starting to see a pattern in the worst vehicles to be passed by when riding.
The worst, bar none, is guys riding cycles (esp. Harelys) side by side. Do they know how far to the right mirrors and foot pegs go? Cripes, they scare me! You'd think they'd give more room since they're always complaining that cars don't give them room to ride.

I've never had an issue with anyone on a harley. Some have loud pipes, but they tend to pass me with plenty of room, and go about their own business. Now, the ones on the Kawaski Ninja type bikes are another matter. They seem to like to pass, and rev their engines while passing. That "RIIINGG-RIIINGG-RIIINGG!" noise is not impressive. It's just plain annoying.

I ride in NJ, I don't have trouble with any long haul trucks. Farm equipment can be scary as it tend to be large but otherwise it's not been a problem. The biggest problem for me has been anything with a trailer (not 18 wheelers), especially if the trailer is wider than the preceding vehicle. Soccer moms follow up as being #2 and huge 4x4s in third. Most drivers with trailers are not professionals and quickly forget once you are no longer in view. Soccer moms suffer the same thing. I'm guessing that they're looking in that right mirror. I've noticed quite a few people do that as they pass (pass and stare into that mirror, pull to the right, then correct at the last minute).
I haven't had a problem with Harley riders, we share a lot of common areas to ride in South Jersey. I don't like the sound level of their pipes. I do have some problems with the rice burner crowd. They tend to be the show-offs and are quite dangerous. They tend to be the fewest on the road.

I certainly agree with soccer moms in the #2 spot and 4x4s being number 3. Solo Harley riders aren't an issue, it's the guys who ride side by side that I mean.

Uh, semi trailer - 2 lane rural road, he passed me with about 3 feet, but at 55 mph (100 kph). I had to fight not to get sucked into the wheels by the crosswind.

Gravel trucks. The never ending shower of gravel that falls out of them. It's a wonder they have any left when they get where there going.

Landscaper pickup trucks. In summer they have trailers wider than the trucks themselves and in winter they have snow plows attached to the front. They always seem to be travelling over the speed limit and seldom leave a safe amount of clearance as they pass.

Sorry, I should have said side-by-side, around here they leave us room. Oddly enough we often have bike lanes in the same area where we meet up.

having said that, dump trucks are my least favorite, had a close encounter with one on the 3 or 4 th real ride (not inside the neighborhood)
