Apparently, I helped get a bad guy off the streets...

On my daily commute on Monday, I had a driver come at me head on (after making a u-turn to get back to) and try and run me over, and then turn around again, pull up next to me and throw a bottle at me (it missed). Yes, there is more to the story, and yes, I am partially at fault for yelling some choice things at the guy, and no, I won't go into any more, as there is a pending criminal case against the guy.

Filed a police report when I got to work, and today, went in to the PD to ID the guy in a photo lineup. The officer tells me this guy has multiple priors for assault with a deadly weapon, public intoxiciation, public disturbance, etc... A real all around nice guy. Anyways, they tell me the DA is going to file charges and arrest him today. So, yeah, I helped get a bad guy off the streets!

You know all that money we spend on nuclear weapons and defense each year, trillions of dollars, correct? Instead -- just play with this -- if we spent that money feeding and clothing the poor of the world -- and it would pay for it many times over, not one human being excluded -- we can explore space together, both inner and outer, forever in peace. Thank you very much -- Bill Hicks

Easy to get cynical about police response with a lot of what I read. Thanks for doing the right thing.

    Well done

...we need to print up little stickers and add one to the top tube when we 'score a confirmed kill' like this one, like WW2 fighter pilots used to do

With a record like that it makes me wonder why he was out of jail. I wish there were a way to hold legally accountable and liable those who let these pukes off early.

I don;t understand the repeat offenders either. Here they have a yellow license plate (normal plates are white) to show the driver is a repeat dui offender. I say at that point you don't need a colored plate, you take the license away.
I put my bluetooth headset on and have the camera phone up and ready when I see one, if they so much as touch the center line I'll snap a pic and call the police.

You are a groovy dude, Caelric! Good job. Thanks for following through and calling the police and going to the line-up. You probably helped save someone else from a worse attack.

. . . or he served his time for those prior infractions and was out because he was entitled to his freedom. Obviously, he didn't learn his lesson, and is in for yet another round of "attitude adjustment." It sounds to me as though everyone in this situation (except the perp) has done the right thing. Why extrapolate to the extreme?
