A song for A&S...
...in light of the usual.
To the tune of Tom Lehrer's "National Brotherhood Week:"
Oh, the bike folks hate the car folks,
And the car folks hate the bike folks.
To hate all but the right folks
Is an old established rule.
But during National Cycling Week, National Cycling Week,
John Forester and Clear Channel are dancing cheek to cheek.
It's fun to eulogize
The people you despise,
As long as you don't let 'em in your lane.
Oh, the nannys hate the ninjas,
And the ninjas hate the nannys.
All of my rules hate all of your rules,
It's American as apple pie.
But during National Cycling Week, National Cycling Week,
Off roaders love the car-free bikers 'cause it's very chic.
Dismount and shake the hand
Of someone you can't stand.
You can tolerate him if you try.
Oh, the trackies hate the roadies,
And the roadies hate the fixies,
And the tourers hate the recumbents,
And everybody can't stand Fred.
But during National Cycling Week, National Cycling Week,
It's National Everyone-smile-at-one-another-hood Week.
Be nice to riders who
Are inferior to you.
It's only for a week, so have no fear.
Be grateful that it doesn't last all year!
I dare anyone to record it.
EDIT: I dared myself:

Done!
I double dog dare you to watch it!
This was the best of several takes. I transposed two of the lines, but they are symmetric, so I left it.
One thing. While the lyrics are presented as close as possible to the way they were written, I don't understand the Forester/Clear Channel connection. I would have thought it would be more like
The VCs hate the Artists
As in Vehicular Cyclists hate The Art of Urban Cycling.
Maybe this will go viral!

Excellent - I haven't laughed that hard (at the lyrics, mind you - you did an excellent job mimicking the "Lehrer" sound) in a while. It is most refreshing to see that some folks here do have a sense of humor
Incidentally, "Clear Channel" is a reference to the radio conglomerate that A&S has criticized in the past for hosting a number of anti-cyclist shock-jocks. My intent was not touse the name of a company, but I could not find the name of any prominently known female banzai/fixie rider.
Now all we need is some musical accompaniment that is just a tad better then the MIDI file that is circulating at present...

I've turned on the commentary in the meantime, but I'll lock it up if it becomes too much to moderate.
