I just reported an ******* in a van who blared his horn behind me two straight blocks. I was bicycling in a 25mph road with a clear passing lane. As usual the driver pulls up beside me and calls me an idiot. My only regret is that I yelled back. At the next stop I took note of his license plate and called the police 5min later. They said they will patrol the area. I am really glad I called and am hoping they will nail this guy, but I keep my expectations low.

did you just talk to the cops or make a police report. If you made a report and he does it again, and gets reported again, there maybe more of a chance he'll get in trouble.

I just called the police to see if a report was filed and the guy kept repeating "it would be in the computer". The lady who I spoke with earlier was going to send a dispatch, which apparently means the incident was reported.

If someone who has adequate passing room, neutral revs their motor while simultaneously missing me by mere inches will get reported to the police for aggressive driving, provided that I'm able to get their vehicle license, and vehicle/motorist description.

I ride up and down this road nearly every day and usually nobody bothers me. This guy seemed to be an exception. I try to be polite, but this guy was excessive. Luckily he didn't scrape me like you just described, but just harassed me.

As others have said, calling the PD can't hurt. In some places, it will be put on record somewhere and may help at a later date.
