Ireland government support for commuting

Talking to a co worker in Dublin today, apparently there is a program in ireland that subsidizes close to 50% of the cost of a bicyle if a company employee commits to bicycle commuting.

don't know all the detail.....but interesting concept....

here is a FAQ link...but could be a little old

I wish they did something like this here. Out of curiosity I looked over the FAQ, and found this interesting:

There will be no minimum amount of days a bicycle should be used. However, the bicycle must be used mainly for journeys to and from work or between work places
The word 'mainly' offers some hedge room, but it's (a little bit) unfortunate that someone who takes this up, finds that they really like cycling, and goes for long tours on the weekend, could be violating the letter of the agreement. On the other hand, it sounds like a great program, and I'd be very happy with it, from what I've read. Plus, it's coming from tax payers' money, and I'm sure the way that's justified has to do with not having to build more lanes if fewer people drove at rush hour, so I can understand why this would be so geared toward commuters.

Very cool that it covers lights, vests, and the like!
