I'm sorry to hear the news. I hope that the driver gets caught soon (preferably posthumously and underneath his own wheels).

My Prayers go out to the Friends and Family of the Cyclist.

RIP.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but something smells fishy about the OP. Reminds me of those scam emails I get occasionally with vague information, bad grammar AND punctuation.

Prove me wrong. Post a link to the news article that would certainly be generated by such an accident. Or troll on somewhere else.

I would also like more information. How do you know the driver stopped to collect the parts so no one would know it was him? I would think if you or someone else witnessed this happening, you could have memorized his tags and called the police, etc. Such a story also does sound like it ought to at least generate some kind of news coverage.

I'm with JoeyBike, this does look a bit fishy.

If the driver stopped and got out ot pick up "car parts" there wouldn have been enough time to a) confront the driver and b) get the license plate.

Just replying might be enough.

It's not spam though (there are no links, no products referenced) but it could be something else.

I offer my condolences, dersan. We have the same problem in the U.S., with careless motorists who flee the scene without taking responsibility for their actions.

Indeed, a horrible tragedy. May he rest in peace.

P.S.: For the skeptics who insensitively replied earlier: How do you feel now?

Skeptical.

Turkey is not the dark side of the moon. They have news, and apparently Internet connections. I searched for "ankara turkey hit and run cyclist" and found nada. The OP was very vague initially. Bummer for sure if it's for real. I'm waiting for a link before I get all misty-eyed.

No need to be disrespectful about it, though chances are this incident was not covered by local media.

Nevertheless, this does not negate the horror of the incident.

to all those scepticals:

what kind of attitude is that?

it's so rude to think that someone would lie about such a thing. and what for would anyone do it anyway? are you guys paying money to the OP for each dead body he/she reports or what?

besides, such a news in turkey normally takes part only in local media, therefore only in turkish.
hello people there! sorry to dissapoint you but there are also other languages than yours in the world. this kind of behaviour makes me remember the girl going to the stationery store and asking for the globe of USA...

btw, the driver is guessed to have collected some bike parts to blur the traces, cause on the place of the accident there were no sign from the helmet or the saddle of the bike.

now if there is still any sceptical fellow left there, they might google "çağatay avşar" and find some pages about the tragedy. you have to use any translation tool though...

Wow. 27 posts since Nov. 2007!? And you respond to this one?

BF is full of every kind of jerk and lair. Lots of nice, cool people, but way too many liars who make stuff up for laughs just to try to garner a response. They don't have boundaries like you. Notice no follow up to this post in some time by the OP? Uh-huh. Figures.

I did biking in Turkey

I did biking in Turkey, I can tell you there are speeding by cars, traffic rules are ignored, law enforcement is vague, and ambulance takes forever to arrive. You haven't seen anything like this in the State side, most people that are in car accidents will lose their life's because of weak emergency intervention, forget about biking accident. Rural areas are worst.
For most of you to understand this you have to visit Turkey it is a beautiful place, but just don't bike.

And if you visit oneof thier bike forums, on top they will post as a banner latest bike deaths and persons name, I haven't seen anything like that on US bike forums, on the Us forums there are treads but not a banner, although it is in Turkish.

I tend to use this forum to learn things rather than to teach, cause there are zillions of people who know a lot better than me on any given bike related topic. Therefore I only rarely write any comment, only when there is something I can add to the topic. That is why I have not many posts.

I was not familiar with this kind of web trolling (the one about road kills) and this accident was a real downer for many cyclists here in turkey, the last critical mass here in istanbul was dedicated to the victim and all. So I'm a bit sentimental about it...

Anyway, the community here is generally a great one and this site has been a major source of info for me on the last 3 years.
