Florida bike Law - police interpretation

Bill Schell <airbook@vikingasia.org> writes:

I have just recently found a document that speaks (mostly) to law enforcement types about the interpretation of the law as it relates to cycling. I "SUSPECT" (but do not KNOW) that many states HAVE this sort of document but do not 'publicize' it very well. I've done nearly 10,000 miles in two years, and I JUST found it!

Nicely written piece. IMO it shows the bike riding too far right in the non-sharable lane, but at least it makes it clear that a cyclist should not curb-hug. One of my favorite parts:
Quote:
In a lane "too narrow for a bicycle and another vehicle to travel safely side by side" (see "Position on roadway" above), passing cyclists "at a safe distance" requires use of the next lane (see "Overtaking and passing a vehicle" above). In this case, cyclists riding two abreast cause no additional impediment to traffic.
