Who to call?

So I'm new to the whole advocacy thing, but I want to do what I can after reading some threads here where people actually get their DOT (department of transportation) to fix something.

I live in south FL, and am wondering besides emailing my areas representatives, is their a number I should have on my phone where I can just call from the location so I don't forget things, and can provide more details, OR are they just going to ignore my calls until I email them 652 thousand times?

Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Reps. They handle the funding for projects. That and city managers. County officials.

Have no idea where you are, but that's a good start.

Start with your local government... do they have a web page? A phone number? A street division? Is there a nearby cycling advocacy group? South FL is a pretty broad description... can't help without a specific town name.

Have you tried the White Pages?

Can you find City Hall? Is there a mayor? A downtown?

I went all googlie eyed and came up with: https://www.floridabicycle.org/takeaction/advocacy.html

Contact them and see who there is in your area. You may well find yourself being suckered... sorry, volunteering to campaign.... etc., etc.

Good luck

I'm located in Miami Dade specifically West Kendall. I tried googling it, and come up with some numbers, and offices but I wasn't sure if they'd even accept my calls so I decided to ask here.

Look at the local municipality's website for where to start.

I know in Denver, I can call 3-1-1, or they have a website I can submit repairs.

Start by calling your city's transportation department. They may not know about a problem if no one has reported it. If they refuse to do anything, then you can escalate.
