Time's Up NYC CM support events

From the Time's Up newsletter:

TAKE ACTION: DAY OF CALLING!
Friday, December 3

Ask Speaker Gifford Miller to request an oversight hearing on the excessive use
of public funds and the seletive enforcement of the law in policing Critical
Mass and other group rides.

Be polite and brief, and voice your concerns to whoever answers. Speaker Miller
controls the City Council’s agenda and has the power and press attention to
bring this issue to the forefront of the public debate.

City Hall Office: (212) 788-7210
District Office: (212) 535-5554
Fax: (212) 535-6098
Email: miller@council.nyc.ny.us

…and spread the word!
***************
PUBLIC HEARING ON CRITICAL MASS
Wednesday, Dec. 8, time TBD (morning, but check the website for exact time)
500 Pearl Street (between Centre St. and Park Row)
Judge Pauley’s Courtroom

Come pack the court room like last time in support of your right to ride your
bike!

-----------

I'll definitely be sending an email to Miller. I wish they knew what time that public hearing is scheduled for considering that I'd most likely have to come in late to work to attend. Hrm.

I'm so tired of this crap happening when I'm at work. I can never make these hearings, etc., because I have a damn job. Sure, I could get time off, but the problem with that is...

Oh screw it...

I feel ya, Vince. It would be nice if there was more of a head's up on these events rather than a last minute email, but some notice is better than none.

I would feel better about taking off work if I knew that a large group was rallying to go together. At least we can email and fax in the interim.

Nah, I know. I know they can't give a heads up because these are last minute. It's just so frustrating to want to do something and not be able to do...

Again, another example of a whacko liberal group hijacking Critical Mass rides and claming them as their own.

Yeah, I really resent how a cycling activism group posts CM info on their website. If only they'd give up all that crazy community gardening jive!

How in any way does the information I posted reflect a "whacko liberal group"?

You might notice that they are actually trying to keep Critical Mass from being "hijacked" by the police.

I hope nyc.indymedia.com post how many people showed up. I wish I could be there. :-(

Yes. Another whacko liberal group hijacking CM, indeed. And, if they think the First Amendment applies to them, well, they got another thing coming. Idiots.
