And in the San Diego area... "riding in traffic lanes" a cyclist is hit.

EL CAJON — A bicyclist was injured Tuesday morning after being hit by a car in El Cajon.

The man was on West Washington Avenue at Sunshine Street about 8:35 a.m. when he was struck by a compact car heading east, El Cajon police Lt. Jeff Davis said.

Witnesses said the man rode into traffic lanes, Davis said.

The car’s driver, who was not injured, stopped.

The man was taken to a hospital. The extent of his injuries has not been released.

Yes there are bike lanes on Washington... so what I am trying to figure out is was the cyclist avoiding hazards or trying to make a left?

And gosh... what, no helmet report?

And golly... the driver of the car was not injured... surprise.
