NY Irregulars: Risking getting this moved to group rides...

How about tuesday night at columbus circle? Midtownish, near both the park and all the mid & downtown attractions we could hope to see, neither too far east or west...

Or suggest a different place/time.

Fine by me, easy ride from work in Times Square. How about right by the big fountain on the corner of CPW?

Most of us have office jobs, which is why our browsers can be parked here all day.

6:30 good? Later? Earlier?

7ish would probably be better. Give me a chance to change into street clothes, and shlep over the 59th street bridge

I'm pretty occupied during the day (work, obviously) and at night too. But weekends I'm good, anyone up for the night ride either friday night or saturday night?
I was thinking we can try following transalt's NYC century route. The spray painted C symbols and direction arrows are surprisingly still on the ground though a bit faded. 100 or so miles should take around 6-7 hours. So if we start at midnight we can be done by sunrise.
Or if we follow 9W up to bear mountain, we can bike around the park, to the top and bike back down and home. It's around 150 miles or so, so if we start at 8pm we should be done by sunrise also.

I'm down for Tuesday night, but not for any century rides on a weeknight! lol

I've got a black specialized rockhopper with road tires and I'll be geared up with lights and a reflective vest.

7PM is cool.

Oops, I meant friday night as in from friday night to saturday morning, not friday morning 12am. It'll all be on the weekend. Sorry for the confusion.

Tuesday? I am in! if it is adopted into a regular ride I could make that easier than friday night rides. An attempt at the century route would be fun, but def crazy in winter at night, (We got lost on a nice Sunday afternoon) but we all are crazy for riding in this town. Columbus Circle at 7 it is. Maybe can get some other bikers there as well. Great idea Laika

One thing I'm pretty sure this'll share with CM is a pretty lackadasical starting policy. Hope to see you.

I got "lost" 3 times on that century but realized later only "lost" once officially. It turns out some of the riders knew the neighborhoods a bit better and the reason why the whole group would split out of nowhere was that while some riders stuck to the route, the other riders knew a shortcut that bypassed a loop (like the one where you go over the bridge, go around the world's fair globe, then go back to the bridge to go under it) and took that instead of following the route.
I def want to retrance the route, it went through some interesting neighborhoods and was a nice ride. Though I really don't wanna be caught after sundown in skimpy spandex with a flat tire alone in some of those places...

our small group was so confused by that section around the world's fair globe! it was only when a marshal came by with another group that we figured it out. did you get to ride around the kissina track? it was locked when we got there

Nah, our group figured it was an unnecessary loop and bypassed it. We were all pretty paranoid about getting lost so we just kept looking for the C's.

Again a misfired post. Riding in the velodrome was a blast though she still is bumpy. You all didn't miss tooooo much. Did you all get T^'s schedule for new years? Looks cool and fun, another thing I can't do, are you all planning on going? Also there is another hearing on the 8th in Judge Pauley's courtroom, I went the first time and it fully restored my faith in the Legal system. So if you can, it could do everyone good if you can go. (Sidenote: phones camera's etc are not allowed in there at all, so if you can, watch what you bring.) Ride On, fellow bikers, Ride On!
