Buelvas was not injured, but his motorcycle was reportedly totaled.

How does that work then? Hit hard enough to trash the motocycle but no injuries? If the guy went bonnet (hood) surfing you'd think that he'd have some damage to show for it.

I think that there must be more to this than meets the eye.

Regardless of strange claims of property damages there are witnesses who say the guy was on the hood, while the driver says he never saw anyone on the hood. Custom motorcycles can be quite expensive, just like custom bikes.

I wasn't defending the driver, it just struck me as odd.

No odder than posting this on a bike (as opposed to motorcycle) forum I suppose

$85,000 is not unrealistic for a custom chopper.

Who the hell hits "debris" while driving down the road unless you live in the kongo? Jesus I can't believe the cops didn't arrest that guy.

Funny, if you get stopped for speeding and tell the cop I didn't see the speed limit sign, you still get a ticket.

I was thinking the same thing. How do you hit a frigging 500 pound motorcycle, have a huge object roll over your hood, and think it was debris?
Regardless, I wouldn't wanna piss off the owner of Gangster Cycles.

The driver needs jail time and license revocation.

You don't. It's not what actually happened that really matters legally. It's what you say that happened, what was witnessed and what can be proved. I wouldn't expect someone who was in the wrong to be particularly forthright about what happened.
