I wonder if it is customary in that area(around the scene of the crime) for what looked to be, five respective jurisdictions responding to the call, according to the article? Because the article at the OP's link, said officers from the city, county, state, along with the sheriffs office and the township responded. That sounds like LEO overkill.
The only reason the U.S. Secret Service were the first-responders, to my bike accident in 2007, was because the accident was right across the street from their headquarters in DC and, several Secret Service agents happen to see it.
