Using maps for a safe emergency pickup

Guys, a lot of good ideas here. However I'm sticking with the maps idea, it's cheap (pennies a piece) low tech, already works with what "equipment" I have and just plain works out for us.
I pull the map out for the route I'm going to take, lay it on the counter peck the wife on the cheek and I'm off. Should I ever NEED to get a pickup I'll just call home, have her look at the map and drive to the area I tell her I'm in. If I've deviated form my route I'll get her close and talk her the rest of the way. Simple, easy and may just come in handy someday.
