The news of the charges is in the comments where one of the riders involved posted.

chase196126 9 minutes ago A quick update. The man was arrested and is currently in jail. He is being charged with class 3 felony aggravated assault. Since he was using a car as a weapon intentionally it is very similar/the same as assault with a deadly weapon. This class 3 felony has a minimum of 5 years prison time, a max of 15 if he doesn't plead down. Hopefully the fact that he hit and ran as well as screaming obscenities before hitting our rider will get him some time behind bars |
Does anyone know if they found the driver yet? The article mentioned that they may have gotten the plate number and the cops were looking for him (or her). None of the local Tucson news sources covered this.

"The Jamis-Hagens Berman team was fortunate to have its follow car behind it, with directeur Sebastian Alexandre at the wheel. He was able to chase after the angry driver, allowing the team’s photographer John Segesta to employ his zoom lens to get pictures of the license plate."
Another plus for having a camera while out on a ride. |
Love the line about the zoom lens.
After my latest collison (Wednesday 2013/2/20, right turning motorist into oncoming (my) lane, no damage or injury), I'm seriously working out how to get my GoPro reliably attached to my bike for commuting/documentation purposes. |
