Haaah! Aaaaahaaa! It IS an anti bike lane conspiracy! I knew it!
I road "cycletracks" in CPH where repeated paving had caused the curb to almost disappear. But anyways, when people in the USA build cycle tracks they do not build these types of facilities. These "cycle tracks" are in road facilities with a small curb that do not have the kind of intersection problems that Heine was criticizing. I can't think of a single example of this kind of facility in the USA.

And right next to the town hall, too

The first part was a joke.
Allowing parking close to intersections is the norm here.

This, for instance, is a combined bike path and parking lot, and I HATE it: https://maps.google.dk/?ll=55.672061...12,107.31,,0,0

This entire thread is a joke.
it's not a smackdown, its a surrender.
did you notice, Jan thinks bikelanes appropriate on roads, but only 30mph and below.
Extrapolating and by doing simple math, for traffic speeds at 30 miles an hour and above, Jan Heine calls for full traffic separation, and indeed, he suggests it is his 'first choice always' if it can be done well.
I bet you missed those crucial bits. which aren't jokes, just the pathetic, quixotic panderings by a confused randonneur. Wow- Jan feels comfortable riding in - next to - 30mph traffic.
In actuality, he's just the type of rider Seattle's path network is hoping to cater to- the traffic adverse rider.
