Cyclist’s jaw broken in Manchester rush-hour street attack by gang

https://www.manchestereveningnews.co....h-hour-4032244

A cyclist is in hospital with a broken jaw after a brutal rush-hour assault by a gang of teenagers who dragged him to the ground and beat him up.

The victim, 38, was left in pain when he spoke due to injuries suffered in the attack – and has since had surgery to screw metal plates into his jaw – at the junction of Corporation Street and Miller Street near Victoria Street station.

That's quite a statement to make about the an entire continent based on one incident. I guess the state of Arizona is such a tolerant place that anywhere else seems just unbearable to you.

Arizona a magnet for hate groups says Anti-Defamation League

Sounds like a veritable love fest.

That didn't take long to blame the victim.

I'll chalk that one up to facetious/sarcastic, and move on without further ado....

Maybe from him. But definitely not from me. I lived in London for two years, in the 1970's, and hated it!!!

There's no mention of anything related to the fact that he was on a bicycle, except that he happened to be.

It sounds more like a gang attack, maybe some kind of rival gang, or hate related attack, but nothing to relate to bicycling per se. It;s no different than an attack on pedestrian. Like pedestrians, cyclists are more vulnerable to these kinds of attacks, because they lack steel and glass armor.

Given the circumstances, I don't see why we're discussing it on the advocacy forum.

Me too. I read the article and was disappointed to find no mention of the bike's well being. What shoddy journalism.

So you think the 38 year old cyclist was a rival gang member, riding his bike solo in enemy gang territory? Really?

The witnesses dont say if he said anything to the thugs but they were calling him names and then just attacked him which sadly is happening more and more in Britain.

People get attacked for virtually no reason at all.

Thugs believe there is no deterrent so they can carry on attacking people.

i was being facetious and imitating replies i've seen made about similar issues. that's pretty scary if gangs of kids just attack people for no reason

Pretty sad when 'blame the cyclist' post are so common that people cannot tell when someone is being facetious.

Please avoid posts that obviously try to politicize the thread. Nobody has been decapitated by order of the government in England for quite some time now.

Carry on

(and keep calm)

You may want to look at the country where this happened, you get a mandatory 5 year sentence for carrying a firearm in the UK.

As for the incident, far too little info to draw any conclusions.

A good idea for whom? What if the three lager louts had been packing heat?
