Impressive---the authorities are "considering" filing charges. That killer should be in jail.

"There are some charges that could be filed just off the immediate evidence ... based upon just the fact that the driver was traveling on a relatively flat stretch of road in broad daylight and the bicyclists were on the highway in plain view," Bell said.

Too many groups promote bike tours and do little to promote safety.
One exception is Adventure Cycling which has been involved with safety initiatives for years.
Others say that working for shoulders, signage, passing laws, and prosecutions is not part of their "mission".
Bike & Build which has had two fatal accidents recently stated as much when I contacted them last year.

I know little about this organization - but they do charge $6000 for teenagers riding six weeks from SC to LA.
Unsagged. That's a pretty fast clip, at pretty high temps, and in areas which are less cycling friendly.
The chances of accidents - regardless of driver inattention - increase when riders are overheated and exhausted.

I am saddened by this news.
I would hope that Overland Adventures and similar groups will act proactively from now on.

I was once told while bicycle touring in Arkansas that this state is one of the most dangerous for cyclists in all the country. I have no idea if that is true or how "most dangerous" is derived but curious if anyone else has seen data to verify that statement. It is a shame because it is a beautiful state to ride in with varied topography, very friendly citizens, and a nice state park system.
