Sure......video cameras have been extremely helpful in my being able to gather info on aggressive motorists in order to give to law enforcement.

I'm sure they find your videos quite entertaining.

If there ever came a time that one of my videos was presented to law enforcement, I doubt highly that it would have any entertainment value.

Been using a camera for 2 years now and I had only one incident where I needed to use it. A motorist, driving a pickup towing a camper trailer, forced me off the road and passed me within a foot.

Motorist was charged $285 CDN for passing too close to a cyclist (we have 1 metre law here).

Our state just recently passed a 3 foot law, but I've used the more detailed info, gathered from my videos, in my several reports to law enforcement over the years that I've had video cameras. Just before my purchasing video cameras, I was basically SOL when it came to reporting aggressive/dangerous driving motorists, and my frustration level while riding my bike was at an all time high.

I deleted the posts discussing the motorcycles vs SUV incident since the original thread on that topic was moved to Foo because it has no bicycling content. Please keep any discussion of that incident in the existing thread in Foo. Thank you.

well.. after reading everyone's suggestions, my friend decided to be the guinea pig and bought one from ebay for $65. it's one of those china made cam that can record 1.5-2hrs. so we're hoping if good, then we'll buy it from there. the housing is made of metallic, so seems rugged.. but will know when we get it.

At $65 it will be either standard def or interpolated HD, unlikely to be good enough quality to reliably read license plates. Let us know though.
