I hardly think advocating that people follow the law when operating provably deadly machinery is a display of a sense of entitlement. In my opinion, following the law is one of the things civilized people do that differentiates them from barbarians. Granted, such behavior requires a bit of self-discipline and even courage in a culture that celebrates narcissism as a virtue.

To be honest, my pleasure would be that people stop driving cars; I don't expect to experience that joy except in small doses.

(By the way, if by 99% you mean drivers of motor vehicles, you are overestimating how many of our fellow citizens are doing that, and your estimate gets worse every year.)
