Dear Motorist

In the last 10 years, 7,000 cyclists have lost their lives in motorist accidents. Our goal is to decrease this number. Share this video to help save a life.

I'm and avid cyclists and I don't have the interest or attention span to watch that. I kinda doubt uninterested motorists will either. IMO, most motorists see an easy and foolproof method of reducing cyclist fatalities due to accidents with motor vehicles, don't allow cyclists on the road.

I agree with Looigi. I did watch the entire thing, but I don't think bad drivers threaten cyclists out of ignorance that this type of PSA helps. The worst of them feel like sharing the road mean cyclists can use the road until they want it, then cyclists can get the hell out of their way.

I guess using the heartstring approach makes sense in a culture that seems to be losing its ability to be rational, so perhaps this video will be effective. I suspect it won't reach many folks, but it only takes one, if it's the one who was otherwise going to carelessly run someone over.

Thanks, I thought it was just me. This has the tone of preaching to the choir, and might make a small difference at the fringes, though those who will respond aren't th problem, and those who are the problem will yawn and tune out well before it's finished.

Emotional appeals only work for those who have a heart, but those people probably already don't want to hit bikes. Otherwise, as a rule the only people who ever have epiphanies after a tragedies are those directly involved.

If we want to use PSAs to reduce fatalities they need to be short and on point, singling out specific actions and showing how they lead to bad ends.

I know two people that would use that video to support their yelling at me to "Get off the road" as a gesture of concern for my safety since they are certain I do not care about my own safety.
