Held on $2.25 million bond. Can't say the courts aren't taking this seriously this time.

Wow, gruesome. Quick summary for those who don't like links: two guys in a pickup hit a cyclist who flies in the air and lands in the bed of their truck. They turn off the lights and flee. Cyclist's riding companion calls 911. Police later find the killers trying to dump the body.

This is one of the nastiest stories I've read lately. Anyone know what the law in Texas is, regarding this? Agree with Dudelsack, you cannot say that the courts
are not taking this seriously.

Texas, hmm, lets see, I think that Ron White said in other states they are trying to stop the death penalty, in Texas they put in an express line..............

I am thankful for the apparent 'secondary' stupidity of the criminals.

The one thing that stood out to me was the collision happened at 4:30am. Probably not the best time to out on the roads IMO.

By the numbers, that's the best time to be on the road.

Not at all, just trying to learn from this accident. I thought that was the point of this forum.

Probably not many cars on the road but a disproportionate number of drivers will be under the influence of drugs/alcohol. Especially on Friday/Saturday as appears to be the case here.

I was responding to Dunbar. Not 2:30, 3:00, yeah, I wouldn't be on the road. 4:30, the road is empty. The bar traffic shouldn't be an issue.

Ask yourself who other than those coming home from a night of drinking would be on the road at 4:30am on a Saturday morning?

There are any number of people whose work requires late hours, or second and third shift hours, Truck drivers and constructions workers who start early, public servants such as police and fire who are inbound to work, workers at 24 Hr operations, Airline workers and security forces, these are just a few of the types of people who may be on the road at 4:30 AM, in addition to those who are winding down a night of drinking and drugging.

And unfortunately there's no way to know which ones are sober and which ones who are wrapping up a long night of drinking. The safest thing to do is probably to stay off the roads in the wee hours of the morning. At least on the weekend.

Eh, it was the cyclist fault for getting hit no doubt. Only crime here is trying to dispose of the body. Right?
