Bikers need to be held to legal standards, too

Letter to the Editor here.

Unfortunately, in today's society, when there is an accident involving a motor vehicle and bicycle, it is the motorist that ends up paying, whether in a lawsuit or just the mental suffering of the incident.
Speechless.

Well yes, the letter is quite the dogs breakfast.
But read the comments!
They are reason for hope and rejoicing!

Letter sounds like it comes from a guy that never really rode a bike path. Really he thinks you can ride most bike paths with a 120 pounds of air in your tires. Silly letter coming from a guy that doesnt have a clue what it is to ride bike path, compared to riding the road.

The original article about the kid is sad, sounds very much like negligent driving on the part of the vehicle operators part. So sad.

The LTTE make this guy sound like he has no idea what he is talking about. And the comments all he does is reveal his ignorance and then defend his ridiculous remarks.

Comments were surprisingly pro bicycle. Editorial was composed by a moron. You really don't have to look far in any state to find a mess of them.

I'd love to see the writer sit at a red light on a bicycle and see how long before it changes for him. I have one in my neighborhood that won't even change for my car when the weather is bad.

That's definitely not true here in Ga., or in Tn. Bicyclists are held to the same standards as car drivers. If you mess up, you will pay, regardless of what you are operating. We charge horse riders with DUIs in this state.
