Helmet Threads

Why is it that every time I see a thread on Helmets, it is closed before I get to put in my 2 cents worth? I'm starting to get a little paranoid, here.....

It makes me think that we may need to revise what not to talk about in public....Religion, Politics, and Bicycle Helmets.... Sheeesh!

Because previously to you bumping 28 threads this morning, your last activity was August of 2013 in a single post and prior to that, November 2012. Try keeping up with current as you can't expect things to still be the same posting once a year. Seems instead of scrolling pages and pages looking for threads to bump on helmets, just take a look at the very first thread that is always at the top because it is a stickied thread.

Because some people bicker like little children and can change almost any thread into a petty ****ing match! Why don't we just block these people from posting in A&S? I have no idea. So instead we have a large unworkable thread on helmets. Yeah the current system works so much better.

The reason helmet threads are closed or moved, is that just about everything that could be said on the topic has been said, and it's come down to a religious debate and shouting match. It might be nice if there were a place to discuss helmets aside from the "saves lives or no, and should wear or no shouting matches, but even if allowed these discussions would be hijacked faster than airliner without security screening in Pakistan.

So to keep the noise down the mods have relegated helmets to a quiet corner (top of the A7S forum) where folks can scream all they want.

I always wear my helmet, even though I know Jesus will still protect me, not the Muslim Jesus, or the Jewish Jesus, but the Christian Jesus. If you don't believe me, just ask Obama. He's expressing concern with Naytenyahu about the Gaza bombings. I mean they can call it preemptive strike, but the actions strikes "terrorism" in my glossary.

Well, if someone tells you that wearing a helmet is nothing more than any intelligent and informed person would do, then that implies than not wearing one is ignorant or stupid. But if you go to all the trouble to consistently wear one, and someone tells you that it's really pointless, then that implies that wearing one is foolish. So the conversation begins with ignorant, stupid and foolish and moves from there.

If we're not careful and actually say something about helmets in this thread, we're sure to see an example. Even talking about discussing helmets is dangerous - it's apparently one of those things not discussed in polite company.

A beautifully executed, classic helmet thread segue. Nice example of why helmet threads are relegated to their own corner of the world. BTW- you could have stayed more on topic by bringing up the point of whether cyclists in Gaza should wear helmets.

I have proposed that the word "helmet" go into the site censor and all helmet threads be deleted. We are awfully close to that now with just the one thread. Go read the helmet thread and you can post whatever 2 cents you have in there where it's safe for the rest of us. We do occasionally let threads about choosing a helmet last for a while, but they invariably get closed
